Life

"An Age of Wulin character with a full Life Bar"
A full life bar - this character has sustained no damage.

Also known as "Hit Points" or "HP", a character's life represents his or her health and ability to function. It is displayed as a red bar in the top right-hand corner of the game interface.

The amount of life a character has can be seen by hovering the mouse cursor over the life bar.

A character's maximum life is determined by the inner skill used, the meridians he or she has active and their level, the character's strength, stamina and any bonuses provided by buffs from various sources such as food or medicine.

"A character with some congested blood"
This character has some congested blood - easily healed - and some more serious damage.

When a character receives damage, his or her life is reduced and portions of the life bar turn either black or yellow.

"Yellow Health" represents congested blood, also known as blood stasis. Certain moves can be used in battle to "dissolve" congested blood, healing the character and turning some or all of the yellow portion of the life bar back to red.

When the life bar is black or empty, this means the character has sustained damage that is more difficult to heal. The character will need to sit and meditate or wait for some time for it to heal naturally.

Life is naturally restored over time. The rate of restoration can be seen by hovering the mouse cursor over the life bar, shown as the number of points recovered every 4 seconds. This amount can be increased by equipping certain treasures and rarely with other items, or temporarily boosted by taking certain medicines or eating certain foods.

A character can immediately be fully healed by a Quack at a Herbal Hall or by taking certain pills. Medicines can also be used to restore smaller portions of a character's life.

Internal Power

Internal power (commonly abbreviated to "IP") represents a character's ability to use the moves of his or her combat routines; each move consumes a certain amount of IP with each use. It is displayed as a blue bar in the top right-hand corner of the game interface, just below the red life bar.

A character's maximum and current amount of internal power can be seen by hovering the mouse cursor over the blue IP bar.

A character's maximum internal power is determined by the inner skill used, the meridians he or she has active and their level, the character's vigorous qi and internal breathing stats and any bonuses provided by buffs from various sources such as food or medicine.

A character's internal power is reduced each time he or she uses a move, and may also be reduced by certain attacks, parry effects and poisons.

Internal power is naturally restored over time. The rate of restoration can be seen by hovering the mouse cursor over the IP bar, shown as the number of points recovered every 4 seconds. This amount can be increased by equipping certain treasures and rarely with other items, or temporarily boosted by taking certain medicines or eating certain foods.

Medicines can restore small portions of a character's internal power during or after combat, while some pills can restore a character's IP completely. After death, internal power is completely refilled if the resurrecting character chooses the option to heal fully in situ; otherwise, a character who has recently died will typically return with his or her internal power in a depleted state.
